Rubik's Cube Tutorial

So, you want to know how to solve the Rubik's Cube? Well, it's really not that hard. In the 1980's when the Rubik's Cube first came out, it was believe that only math wizards could figure out how to solve it. With new methods such as the Friedrich Method we know that anyone can learn how to solve the cube.

One great way to learn is to check out all the great Rubik's Cube videos available on YouTube. There are hundreds of tutorials that will help you. We use the tutorial from YouTube user Thrast in our section below.

Buy a cube

To do this tutorial you will need to buy a Rubik's Cube. If you already have one, move on to Step 1. If you don't have a cube, go to our Rubik's Cube Auctions page and check some out there or click on one of these:



Step 1

This first step is pretty easy. All you have to do is make a "cross". Watch this video and it's explained pretty well.

Step 2

Step 2 explains standard Rubik's Cube notation. Although I said it would be pretty easy to learn how to solve the cube, it will take some memorization. Learning this Rubik's Cube notation will help you memorize the combinations to solve the cube.

Step 3

This video explains how to solve the middle layer, which puts you at 2/3s of the way through solving the cube already! This is also were notation starts to come in handy that you learned in the previous video.

Step 4 - Final Step

This is the final video before you've solved the cube. It explains how to do the PLL, which will move around the top of your cube until it's solved. Good luck!
